Where are the President’s Men? Raiding the Treasury of course. Federal indictments will follow this group of faux patriots and their notion of fascist design on America. I would far better be a socialist than fascist any day. Oh yea, and by the way...there are still outstanding international indictments at The Hague for Messieurs Bush and Cheatny for crimes against humanity...is the GOP great or what................ Now I understand how a young Josef Broz Tito took on the infamous Francisco Franco in Spains 1938 civil war...only "W" War Criminal Bush is worse.....Daniel J. Smiechowski San Diego

mlaiuppa,

The country has survived Buchanan, Grant, Harding, Hoover, Johnson, Nixon and GW (albeit barely and it ain't over 'til it's over). I'm optimistic that we can survive even a Palin presidency. And, heck, after the depression of 2009-2043 ends (and WWIV comes to a successful conclusion) I look forward to the fabulous '50s. I'll be in my nineties but, what the heck.

Nunya,
Credit, properly applied, is actually one of the most wondrous inventions of man: it allows us to borrow from our future selves to allow us to invest now and make our future selves even richer. Borrowing money to go to college, for example, make sense if that college degree will result in you making more money, even after paying off the loans, because your earning potential was increased. Borrowing money to buy a Mickey D's happy meal, however, doesn't work because the hamburger is consumption, not investment, and yields no future revenues. Problem is, from Main Street to Wall Street we've been using credit to go to McDonalds.

Apparently Socialism is a dirty word for everything....except bailouts for Wall St., investment banks, savings and loans, the Auto Industry.......

Don't forget to include Phil Gramm when listing blame. Reagon was an economic idiot. Gramm's resumé shows he *should* know better.

But you've left out one more step in sending us back to 1910.

Rove and Dobson are poised to place the first American Dictator on the throne of the country and be the puppetmasters. And I'm not talking McCain. He'll die in his first term. So this November may see the last U.S. election. Notice I didn't say "free election". While we'll continue to have elections, they may be like elections in other less than "free" countries. I.E. a sham. Voter disenfranchisement through foreclosure lists. Electronic voting machines with no paper trail and open for tampering. There's no telling what they're gearing up behind the scenes to ensure their next step. They'll have to do something as too many voters now see the fallacy of trickle down, deregulation and the other bullsh¡t we've been fed.

If there is a huge discrepancy between the exit polls and the actual voten it will be interesting to hear how the right explains it away. The larger Obama's lead, the more difficult their job.

Will there be a revolt of the electorate?

Or will we complacently become the Union of Free States of the Republik of Amerika?

"why is it in Bushian America anyone with a graduate degree is a suspected socialist"

You don't even need a graduate degree. I've been called a "Marxist" by one of those Reagan acolytes and I've never read Marx. Mention regulation by the government and just wait for the knee-jerk reactions. I think it's kind of funny since I had problems with Keynes in an economics class. I'm one of those people who avoids using credit like the plague, and I hate the bumping up of the National Debt to 11 trillion.
